Punk rock begun in the 70's as a raucous, underground uprising against common current of pop music. Bands alike Sex Pistols, Iggy Pop, and Pere Ubu helped bring punk music back in the 90's . This time the mesh of lively, naive rock with melodic pop melodies cooled heels on radio and MTV. Today, soi-disant punk pop is a key part in the world of chart music. These 10 tracks are fine starting points to get to know punk pop.

1. blink-182 - Enema of the State

In blink-182's endless endeavour to diminish all grown ups in the vicinity, that record album featured a person clothed as an enema nurse on the booklet. The punk pop on the record is youthful and catchy with the massive hit single “Adam's Song.”

2. The Donnas - Spend the Night

Girls perform punk rock, too, and this disc is a profuse evidence of the fact. The group formed themselves after the first punk rock group Ramones with every member going by the name Donna. Download Pressure to compare.

A band from Waldorf, Maryland Good Charlotte got into the top 10 of the pop album chart with this set. It's filled with tales of high school and problem mothers. The smashing hit track is “Girls & Boys.”

5. The Lemonheads - It's a Shame About Ray

6. The Offspring - Not the One

Offspring a highly influential American rock band were one of the true punk renascence bands from the mid-90's. On many occasions their music touched with Blues rock and heavy metal, but their best music is true punk. “Come Out and Play” and “Genocide” are far beyond what is usual on this album.

7. Rancid - The 11th Hour

Rancid sounds a lot like such late 1970 classic punk bands as the Clash. They also use the sound of street punk in much of their albums.

8. Simple Plan - Still Not Getting Any…

This group from Canada emerged in the limelight in 2002 with their record album One Day. This second record album is even better and contains the hit single “Welcome To My Life.”

9. Sum 41 - Nothing On My Back

The single “Introduction To Destuction” encouraged to catapult this album into the top 20. Sum 41 inject clever humor into much of their music. Download When It Rains to get a feeling of what we are talking about.

10. Weezer - Weezer (Blue Album)

Though they are esteemed as fathers of the anti-establishment rock music genre, Weezer's records are also pure punk pop. “Undone - The Sweater Song” was their 1st hit and then a video putting the band in a TV episode promoted to make “Buddy Holly” even more popular.
